Catan is a strategic board game designed to teach children about trading, settling, and resource management. Players compete to control the island of Catan by constructing settlements, cities, and roads. Each turn begins with a dice roll that determines which resources the island yields. Players gather these resources—sheep, wheat, wood, brick, and are represented by cards, to develop their holdings. Different terrain types supply specific resources: hills yield brick, forests provide wood, mountains offer ore, fields produce wheat, and pastures supply sheep, while the desert remains unproductive. Suitable for ages 8 and up.
